Shiv Sena Leader Attacked with Swords in Punjab

Sandeep Thapar, a Shiv Sena (Punjab) leader, was allegedly attacked by four Nihangs with swords outside Samvedna Trust in Punjab. Thapar was leaving after attending a ceremony. The attack left him with serious head injuries, and the assailants managed to escape.

Sandeep Thapar, a prominent leader of the Shiv Sena (Punjab), was grievously injured in an alleged sword attack by four individuals in Punjab on Friday, police reports indicate. The assault occurred as Thapar exited the Samvedna Trust office near Civil Hospital, following a commemoration ceremony for the trust's late founder, Ravinder Arora.

According to police statements, the attackers, identified as Nihangs, launched the assault on Thapar, inflicting critical head injuries. Despite the presence of Thapar's security personnel at the scene, the perpetrators successfully fled. Thapar was urgently transported to a medical facility where his condition remains serious, law enforcement confirmed.

Samvedna Trust is known for providing complimentary ambulance services and transporting bodies to cremation grounds. Nihangs, recognized for their traditional blue attire and weaponry, are part of a Sikh warrior sect. Inspector Gurjit Singh is leading the ongoing investigation into the incident.
