A Mumbai court on Thursday sent Shiv Sena politician Rajesh Shah's family chauffeur, Rajrishi Bidawat, to 14-day judicial custody in connection with the fatal BMW hit-and-run case.

Police informed the court that Mihir Shah, prime accused and son of Rajesh Shah, had acquired beer cans before the accident and needed Bidawat's custody to retrieve them. The police accused Mihir Shah of being behind the wheel during the crash that killed a woman and injured her husband.

Police alleged that after the crash, Bidawat swapped seats with Mihir Shah under Rajesh Shah’s instructions. Both Mihir Shah and Bidawat confessed to their involvement under custodial interrogation. The court remanded Bidawat in 14-day judicial custody while further investigations continue.
