Mumbai police revealed on Thursday that Mihir Shah, the son of a Shiv Sena politician and the main accused in a BMW hit-and-run case, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol during the fatal crash. The luxury car he was driving reportedly collided with a two-wheeler, killing a woman named Kaveri Nakhwa and injuring her husband.

Investigators recreated the accident scene to ascertain the chain of events, confronting Mihir Shah (24) and his family driver, co-accused Rajrishi Bidawat, who was present in the car at the time of the crash. Bidawat has been sent to 14-day judicial custody following the court's denial of extended police custody.

The police further alleged that Bidawat swapped seats with Shah, purportedly at the direction of Shah's father, Rajesh Shah. The investigation is ongoing, and Mihir Shah remains in police custody till July 16.
