Jammu on High Alert After Suspicious Movement

Security forces in the Jammu district initiated a search operation in the border belt on Friday after receiving information about suspicious movement in the area, officials confirmed.

Eyewitnesses claimed that three armed individuals in uniform asked them for water and to use their mobile phone.

Heightened vigilance has been enforced, with the public urged to report any suspected activities in their vicinity.

A coordinated effort by the Army, police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was launched in the Guda Patan and Kana Chak areas along the Chenab river in the Akhnoor sector. Residents reported seeing three armed men, triggering the operation.

The search has covered agricultural fields, villages, and nearby scattered habitations.

The region is under strict cordon as the operation continues. Ravi Kumar, an eyewitness, recounted the alarming encounter with the armed men who asked him for water and to make a call on his mobile, before leaving the scene.

Kumar promptly informed Naib Sarpanch Vinod Sharma about the incident.

Sharma said he relayed the information to the station house officer and an Army officer, who then quickly mobilized forces for the search.

Given the potential threat, an alert has been issued in Jammu.

Vehicle inspections and individual frisking have been intensified, authorities confirmed.
