Rescue Efforts Intensify for Missing Worker in Thiruvananthapuram Canal

A temporary contract worker named Joy went missing in the Amayizhanchan canal in Thiruvananthapuram. Heavy rains increased the water flow, complicating rescue operations. The fire force, police, and a scuba diving team are on-site. Minister V Sivankutty and Mayor Arya Rajendran visited the site, emphasizing the Railway's responsibility for the canal’s cleaning.

A temporary worker, Joy, went missing on Saturday morning amid heavy rains while cleaning the Amayizhanchan canal in Thiruvananthapuram, authorities reported.

Efforts to rescue Joy have been hampered by plastic and hard waste clogging the canal, with officials dismantling a fence and bringing in excavators to facilitate the operation.

Minister V Sivankutty and city Mayor Arya Rajendran, who visited the site, stated that the Railway bears full responsibility for cleaning the canal tunnel, which has impeded rescue operations.
