The Israeli military confirmed that Rafa Salama, the Khan Younis brigade commander for Hamas, was killed in a targeted air strike on Saturday. The operation also aimed at Mohammed Deif, the head of Hamas' armed wing.

Salama was identified as one of Deif's closest confidants and played a pivotal role in the planning of Hamas' attack on October 7. The military stated that his death would 'significantly impede Hamas' military capabilities.'

As of now, Hamas has not verified Salama's death.
