On Sunday, a police complaint was filed against Assam Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Minister Atul Bora for allegedly administering vaccinations to livestock without being a certified veterinary doctor.
Despite the complaint, the police have yet to file an FIR and have redirected the issue to the local police station in Golaghat district for further examination.
The complaint, lodged by Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti's Golaghat General Secretary (in-charge) Hirakjyoti Saikia, asserts that Bora's unauthorized actions pose a danger to livestock and constitute a legal violation.
Bora defended his actions, noting on social media that the vaccination drive was part of a government initiative to provide timely veterinary services to farmers, especially given the recent floods.
Photographs of Bora administering injections have sparked controversy online. The police are now deciding on the next steps in their investigation.
