A landmine explosion claimed the lives of two children in Pakistan’s volatile Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, local police reported.
The unfortunate event unfolded on Monday in the Bangi Wala area of Sararogha tehsil, nestled within the tribal South Waziristan district.
The deadly blast occurred as the children played near their home, with authorities still uncertain about the individuals responsible for planting the landmines in the area.
Known for militant activity, South Waziristan has seen three other similar explosions over the past four months, primarily affecting children. Notably, an explosion in April killed three children and injured another.
