The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has officially charged CPI (Maoist) cadre Anil Yadav, also known as Chhota Sandeep, for his alleged role in extorting money from businessmen in Bihar and spreading violent Maoist ideology. This development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Anil Yadav, a resident of Aurangabad district, has now been named in a supplementary charge sheet filed before a special NIA court. Previously, four other individuals were charge-sheeted in a case registered on September 26, 2023, which relates to the CPI (Maoist) outfit's efforts to rejuvenate naxalism in the Magadh zone of Bihar.
The NIA's investigation uncovered that Yadav was actively involved in promoting the banned organization's violent ideology, aiming to recruit new members. He was also implicated in fund-raising activities by collecting levies from local businessmen, including brick kiln owners and contractors, in collaboration with accused individuals Rohit Rai, Pramod Yadav, Pramod Mishra, and Anil Yadav alias Ankush. Further investigations have revealed Yadav's criminal background, with four cases registered against him in Aurangabad and Gaya districts.
