Authorities mentioned that the killing comes just days after the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party state chief K Armstrong in Chennai, though they ruled out any political motive behind Balasubramanian's death. Preliminary investigations suggest financial disputes and a potential revenge attack.

The party's chief coordinator, Seeman, condemned the killing in a post on social media platform 'X,' tagging Chief Minister M K Stalin. Seeman demanded the immediate arrest of the perpetrators and threatened protests if justice is delayed. The police are continuing their investigations.
