On Tuesday, members of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) met Allahabad MP Ujjwal Raman Singh and Kaushambi MP Pushpendra Saroj to present their demands, which include assured procurement and Minimum Support Price (MSP) at a C2 plus 50 per cent formula, according to a statement from the farmers' organisation.
The MPs assured the SKM that they would press the government to engage in discussions and not ignore the farmers' issues. The delegation included various farmer leaders such as AIKMS general secretary Dr. Ashish Mital and others.
The SKM, known for leading the 2020-21 farmers' protest at Delhi borders, announced plans to resume their agitation. They aim to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Leader of Opposition to present their full charter of demands. They also announced observing August 9 as 'Corporates Quit India Day' to support their causes.
