West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Tuesday welcomed the Calcutta High Court's interim order restraining Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and three others from making any defamatory or incorrect statements against him.

Bose expressed a spiritual note, stating he would pray to the Almighty to guide Banerjee on the right path.

''Truth will triumph. I pray to God to throw light on the path of Mamata Banerjee. This is a God-sent for me. I would like to dedicate myself to the service of the people of Bengal,'' he said.

Bose had filed a defamation suit against Banerjee, two newly-elected TMC MLAs Sayantika Banerjee and Reyat Hossain Sarkar, and party leader Kunal Ghosh over comments made during an imbroglio regarding the oath-taking ceremony for the new MLAs.

The governor sought an interim order to restrain them from making further comments concerning alleged incidents at Raj Bhavan.

The controversy erupted over the venue for the swearing-in ceremony, with the newly elected MLAs preferring the assembly, while the governor favored Raj Bhavan.
