Serial Offender Arrested for Gold Heist and Shootings

Delhi Police have arrested Sumit Dagar, who, along with his associates, looted four kilograms of gold and shot two people in a Telangana jewellery store robbery. Dagar, already a proclaimed offender in Delhi, had been on parole for a previous murder. Efforts continue to apprehend his associates.

Delhi Police have apprehended Sumit Dagar, a man wanted for multiple crimes, including the recent robbery of four kilograms of gold from a jeweller in Telangana. The incident, which also saw two people being shot, was orchestrated by Dagar and his associates, officials announced on Wednesday.

Sumit Dagar had been a proclaimed offender in a 2019 murder case in Delhi, where he and his associates killed Imran over an old feud. Dagar was arrested after the murder but was released on parole. Subsequently, he relocated to Telangana and got involved in the gold heist.

On December 1, 2023, Dagar and his associates committed the robbery at gunpoint in Telangana, injuring two jewellers. Following a request for assistance from Telangana police, Delhi Police's crime branch traced Dagar to Sector 34 in Rohini and arrested him on Tuesday. Dagar has confessed to his involvement, and efforts are underway to apprehend his associates, who are implicated in six cases including murder and armed robbery.
