Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Thursday that India is developing a system to prevent even a gram of drugs from entering or leaving the country. Addressing senior officials of central and state anti-narcotics agencies at the 7th NCORD meeting in the national capital, Shah advocated for a 'ruthless' approach to dismantling drug supply chains.
Shah launched MANAS helpline number '1933' and an email ID, info.ncbmanas@gov.in, for citizens to report drug trafficking confidentially. Tips can be submitted on ncbmanas.gov.in. He asserted that the narcotics trade threatens national security, emphasizing the need to target entire drug networks, not just users.
Highlighting the Modi government's achievements, Shah noted a significant increase in drug seizures from 2014-24 compared to 2004-13. He urged agencies to adopt new strategies and promised affordable narcotics testing kits soon. Shah reiterated that keeping youth away from drugs is crucial for India to achieve its 2047 goals.
