Centre Unveils Six New Bills for Parliament Session

The upcoming Parliament session will see the introduction of six new bills, including one aimed at replacing the 90-year-old Aircraft Act to enhance ease of business in civil aviation. Other notable bills include amendments in disaster management and updates to finance, boiler, coffee, and rubber legislation.

The Centre is set to introduce six new bills in the upcoming Parliament session, starting Monday. Among them is a key bill to replace the 90-year-old Aircraft Act, aiming to ease business operations in the aviation sector. Other significant bills include the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, Finance Bill, Boilers Bill, Coffee (Promotion and Development) Bill, and Rubber (Promotion and Development) Bill.

The session will commence on July 22 and conclude on August 12, with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman scheduled to present the Union Budget on July 23. The proposed Disaster Management bill aims to clarify and streamline the roles of various organizations involved in disaster management, according to a Lok Sabha bulletin issued on Thursday. The Bhartiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024, seeks to update the Aircraft Act of 1934 to facilitate smoother business dealings in civil aviation.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has set up the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), tasked with deciding the parliamentary agenda. The BAC is chaired by the Speaker and includes members from various political parties such as Sudip Bandyopadhyay (TMC), P P Chaudhary (BJP), Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu (TDP), among others.
