India has labeled the ongoing violent protests in Bangladesh as an internal matter of that country, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal announced on Friday.

Jaiswal assured that around 15,000 Indian nationals, including 8,000 students, currently residing in Bangladesh, are safe and sound.

"As you are aware, there are ongoing protests in Bangladesh. We see this as an internal matter of the country," he said. An advisory has been issued for Indian nationals, including students, resident in Bangladesh for their safety. Helpline numbers have been activated and are operating on a 24x7 basis for anyone requiring assistance.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is closely monitoring the situation, Jaiswal noted. “Our High Commission will be providing regular updates, and I will also be posting frequent updates. Family members should follow us for the latest developments,” he said.

"We remain committed to providing all possible assistance to our nationals in Bangladesh," Jaiswal added.
