Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held a crucial review meeting with officials from rain-affected districts on Friday. He directed them to estimate the situation of rainfall and floods using information from the Meteorological Department to alert the public and mitigate the loss of life.

The Chief Minister emphasized the need for advanced preparation to prevent loss of life and property. “Against an average statewide rainfall of 185 mm, 244 mm has been recorded. This amounts to a 31 percent excess,” Naidu noted in an official press release.

Naidu also cited concerns over the Godavari riverbanks, weakened due to indiscriminate sand mining by the previous YSRCP government, and instructed constant monitoring of water bodies. The CM further called for coordination between revenue and irrigation officials, advising decisions based on the flood manual. In proactive measures, Eluru district officials successfully evacuated people stranded due to rising floodwaters.
