Former Minister V Senthil Balaji, who is currently incarcerated under an Enforcement Directorate case, was transported to a hospital on Sunday after he complained of chest pain, according to official sources. Initially evaluated at Government Stanley Hospital, he was subsequently moved to Omandurar multi-super-speciality hospital for further assessment and observation.

The duration of his hospital stay remains unclear. This marks another instance of Balaji's recurring health issues since his arrest. Last year, he was hospitalized multiple times and underwent bypass surgery.

The legal proceedings against him are also seeing delays. A sessions court had previously scheduled the framing of charges for July 22. Principal Sessions Judge S Alli directed the prosecution to produce Balaji in person on the said date. His bail pleas have been dismissed by both the Madras High Court and the sessions court.
