On Monday, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar rejected notices from opposition MPs aimed at discussing a contentious Uttar Pradesh government order. The order requires shops along the Kanwar Yatra route to display names of their owners and staff.
The opposition MPs submitted notices under rule 267, seeking the suspension of the day's business to prioritize this discussion. However, Dhankhar dismissed the notices, stating they did not comply with the requirements of rule 267 nor the directions given by the chair.
As a result, the notices were not accepted, leaving the issue unresolved in the Rajya Sabha.
