Parliamentary Assurances: 913 Pledges and the Path to Completion

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs L Murugan reported that, out of 913 parliamentary assurances given over the last three years, 583 have been implemented while 330 are still pending. Some pledges required policy changes or amendments which delayed their implementation. Software called OAMS helps monitor these assurances in real-time.

Out of the 913 assurances made by Ministers in Parliament over the past three years, 583 have been fulfilled and 330 are still pending, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs L Murugan stated in Rajya Sabha on Monday.

Addressing supplementary questions, Murugan explained that some assurances need policy changes and amendments, causing delays. He emphasized that assurances are generally expected to be fulfilled within three months.

To manage this process, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has developed the Online Assurance Monitoring System (OAMS). This platform allows Ministries to upload implemented reports, request extensions, and receive auto-generated reminders.
