Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has come forward to defend NCP MLA Sunil Tingre, who was interrogated by police for three to four hours in connection with a fatal Porsche car crash in Pune. Pawar emphasized that his party colleague played no role in the post-accident events.

Tingre, the MLA representing Vadgaon Sheri in Pune, faced criticism for allegedly attempting to influence the investigation and protecting the minor driver. He had visited the Yerwada police station, which was looking into the accident, prompting accusations of meddling, which he has consistently denied.

The accident, involving a Porsche driven by a 17-year-old under the influence of alcohol, resulted in the deaths of two motorbike-borne IT professionals in Kalyani Nagar. Following this, the district administration launched a stringent crackdown on pubs, bars, and restaurants for violating norms. Pawar reiterated that illegal activities and encroachments would not be tolerated, and new regulations were enforced as a result.
