US Initiates Sudan Peace Talks in Switzerland
The United States has invited the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces for U.S.-mediated ceasefire talks starting on Aug. 14 in Switzerland. The African Union, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Nations will be observers. Saudi Arabia will be a co-host for the discussions.
The United States has extended an invitation to the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces to engage in U.S.-mediated ceasefire talks in Switzerland beginning on Aug. 14, according to Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
The talks will also involve the African Union, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Nations as observers, Blinken stated. Saudi Arabia is set to co-host the discussions.
