Central Government Acts to Fill Reserved Vacancies

Central government ministries have been directed to form committees to identify and address backlog reserved vacancies. Minister of State for Personnel, Jitendra Singh, emphasized that the continuous process of filling these vacancies will be enhanced through special drives, with each ministry tasked to ensure compliance and designate reservation cells.

The central government has mandated all its ministries and departments to establish in-house committees to identify and address backlog reserved vacancies, the Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.

In a written reply, Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh emphasized the continuous process of filling vacancies, including backlog reserved ones. He stated that special recruitment drives would be initiated to tackle the issue.

Singh revealed that each ministry and department must designate a liaison officer of deputy secretary rank or above to ensure compliance with reservation orders. Furthermore, special reservation cells will be set up to assist in this mission.

Responding to another query, Singh clarified that reservation percentages for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Communities are 15%, 7.5%, and 27%, respectively, for direct recruitment at the national level. For promotions, the reservation is 15% for SCs and 7.5% for STs.

Regarding the action plan for filling vacancies, Singh noted that ministries have been instructed to address vacant posts promptly. He mentioned that Rozgar Mela, launched by the prime minister in October 2022, aims to expedite this process, with twelve such events held across various cities to date.
