Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Raping 8-Year-Old Girl

A court here has sentenced a man to 20 years of imprisonment for the rape of an 8-year-old girl in 2021, according to police reports. The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Ashwani Kumar Mehta also imposed a fine of Rs 40,000 on the convict, Adarsh Pandey, and ordered that the victim receive a compensation of Rs 5 lakh from the District Legal Services Authority fund.

The incident took place on March 24, 2021, in IMT, Manesar. According to Advocate Pankaj Verma, the survivor's mother alleged that her neighbor, Adarsh Pandey, who is originally from Uttar Pradesh, lured her daughter from their home and committed the crime. Following the allegation, an FIR was lodged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, leading to the arrest of Pandey.

The court's decision found Pandey guilty of the rape, leading to his 20-year imprisonment sentence, confirmed advocate Verma.
