Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal Appointed New DGP of Andaman and Nicobar Islands
The Ministry of Home Affairs has appointed IPS officer Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal as the new Director General of Police for Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Dhaliwal, previously a special commissioner in New Delhi, brings extensive experience and has solved several high-profile cases. He succeeds Devesh Chandra Srivastva, who has been transferred to New Delhi.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Thursday appointed senior IPS officer Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal as the new Director General of Police of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Dhaliwal, a 1997-batch IPS officer, was previously the special commissioner of police in New Delhi, overseeing traffic zone-II. He is known for solving high-profile cases such as the Dhaula Kuan gangrape, journalist Saumya Vishwanathan's murder, and the Jigisha Ghosh murder case. Dhaliwal also took an active role in the investigation of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala's murder.
An alumnus of Panjab University, Dhaliwal brings significant experience to his new position in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Incumbent DGP Devesh Chandra Srivastva has been transferred to New Delhi. Srivastva, with a career spanning 27 years, has served in pivotal roles across Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Delhi, and Mizoram, and has been honored with the Police Medal for 'Meritorious Service' and the President's Police Medal for 'Distinguished Service' during his service.
