DMK Kicks Off Candidate Application Drive for Tamil Nadu Assembly Polls
The DMK party has started accepting applications from members aspiring to contest the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Applications can be collected at the DMK headquarters, with fees applicable based on the category. Refunds are possible if chosen constituencies are allocated to allies. The DMK party has officially started the process for members to apply for candidacy in the forthcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. On Friday, the party's headquarters at Anna Arivalayam witnessed a high turnout of prospective candidates patiently waiting in line to obtain their application forms.
According to a party release dated February 18, candidates from the general category are required to pay a non-refundable fee of Rs 25,000, while women and reserved category candidates must pay Rs 15,000. However, if the constituencies chosen by applicants are designated to allies in the seat-sharing discussions, the fee will be reimbursed.
A committee geared towards conducting seat-sharing negotiations with alliance partners is set to commence talks on February 22. The DMK-led coalition includes notable parties like the Congress, CPI, CPI (M), VCK, Vaiko-led MDMK, and others.
