In a significant crackdown on illegal wildlife trade, Delhi's forest department and police jointly rescued 1,000 birds, including exotic species, from Kabutar Market, as reported by PETA India on Friday.
Thousands of birds, such as Alexandrine parakeets and finches, were saved following a complaint to the forest department about locked shops housing these birds. Animal rights activist and former MP Maneka Gandhi also intervened in the operation.
