Israeli Airstrikes Target School and Hospital in Gaza Amid Ceasefire Talks
Israeli airstrikes on Saturday hit a school and hospital in central Gaza, resulting in multiple casualties. As international mediators prepare for ceasefire talks, the Israeli military ordered evacuations in response to ongoing Hamas attacks. The conflict has claimed thousands of lives and left many Palestinians displaced.
In a tragic escalation of the ongoing conflict, Israeli airstrikes struck a school and hospital in central Gaza on Saturday, resulting in significant loss of life. At least 30 individuals seeking refuge at a girls' school in Deir Al-Balah were killed. They were subsequently taken to Al Aqsa Hospital.
The Israeli military stated that the strike targeted a Hamas command and control center, accused of storing weapons and planning attacks. This offensive comes as negotiators are set to meet international mediators, including officials from the US, Egypt, and Qatar, for ceasefire discussions in Italy.
In response to continued rocket fire from Gaza, Israel also ordered the evacuation of a part of a humanitarian zone, posing yet another challenge for the already displaced Palestinian population. The UN and humanitarian agencies are concerned about the severity and humanitarian implications of these evacuations.
