Notorious Naxalite Surrenders: Rina Narote's Turnaround

Rina Narote, a notorious Naxalite carrying a reward of Rs 8 lakh, surrendered to police and CRPF in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli. Known as Commander Lalita, she was involved in murder and attacks on security forces. The government offers Rs 5.5 lakh for her rehabilitation, reflecting success in anti-Maoist operations.

In a significant development, Rina Narote, a high-profile Naxalite also known as Commander Lalita, surrendered to the police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district on Saturday. Narote, aged 36, was implicated in murder and attacks on security forces, carrying a reward of Rs 8 lakh on her head.

According to a police statement, Narote was a commander responsible for logistics in the Gadchiroli Division of the CPI (Maoist). Her surrender marks a critical victory in ongoing anti-Maoist operations. Officials noted that she would receive Rs 5.5 lakh from both central and state government policies aimed at rehabilitating surrendered Naxalites.

This is part of an intensified effort by the Maharashtra government to encourage Naxalites to surrender and reintegrate into society. Since 2022, 23 hardcore rebels have turned themselves in, showcasing the success of these initiatives.
