JERUSALEM/BEIRUT, July 27 (Reuters) - A rocket attack on a football ground in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights claimed the lives of ten people, including children, on Saturday, N12 News reported. This marks the deadliest incident in recent months of clashes between Israel and Lebanese armed groups.

The Israeli military has alleged that the rocket was fired by Hezbollah, a claim the Iran-backed group has denied. An Israeli emergency service mentioned earlier that nine people were critically injured by the rocket, which struck a football pitch in the Druze village of Majdal Shams. Magen David Adom medic Idan Avshalom described the scene as one of great destruction and fire.

Witnesses stated that the rocket hit the soccer pitch, causing numerous casualties including children. This attack followed an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon that killed four militants. According to Israeli military assessments, the rocket launch toward Majdal Shams was executed by Hezbollah, though senior Hezbollah representative Mohammad Afif denied any responsibility for the attack.
