Russian shelling claimed the lives of at least five civilians on Saturday across different regions of Ukraine, according to officials.

In the Kherson region of southern Ukraine, three people were killed: one in the administrative centre of Kherson, another outside the city, and one near Beryslav to the north. The area was initially occupied during Russia's February 2022 invasion but was largely retaken by Ukrainian forces later that year. Despite this, Russian troops continue to shell Ukrainian-held areas from new positions.

In the northeastern Sumy region, frequently targeted by Russia, a rocket attack killed a 14-year-old boy and injured 12 others, as reported by Ukraine's prosecutor's office. The attack in the border town of Hlukhiv struck apartment buildings, houses, a school, a shop, and vehicles shortly after noon, leaving six children among the wounded.

Further east, in the Kharkiv region, Governor Oleh Syniehubov stated one individual was killed when a private home near Chuhuiv came under fire. Over the border in southern Russia's Belgorod region, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported Ukrainian shelling and drone attacks resulted in one death, two injuries, and damage to property.

Russia's Defence Ministry reported that air defence units had destroyed two drones over Belgorod late Saturday. Reuters could not independently verify the accounts from either side.
