Emergency Relocation Amid Uttarakhand Rains and Landslides

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officials to relocate residents of sensitive villages affected by heavy rains and landslides in Tehri Garhwal. Cloudbursts have caused massive destruction, resulting in fatalities and displacements. Immediate relief and efforts to restore normalcy are ongoing.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday directed officials to quickly identify and relocate residents of sensitive villages affected by heavy rains and landslides in the Bodh Kedar area of Tehri Garhwal.

Officials reported that cloudbursts in Pauri Garhwal’s Toli, Bodh Kedar, and Tehri Garhwa’s Jakhana and Tingarh on Saturday evening caused massive destruction.

A woman and her daughter died in Toli village following a landslide. Additionally, seventy people from fifty families in Tingarh village were shifted to a nearby government inter college in Vinakkal.

The chief minister is in constant communication with Ghansali MLA Shakti Lal Shah and Tehri District Magistrate Mayur Dixit, providing necessary instructions.

Dhami has instructed the district administration to identify other sensitive villages in the disaster-affected area and relocate affected residents to safer locations.

Tehri DM Dixit stated that families of the two deceased in Toli village have received relief cheques of Rs 4 lakh each and Rs 1.35 lakh for housing damage.

Efforts are being made to restore electricity and drinking water in the disaster-affected area, with Rs 57,500 also provided to livestock owners for animal losses.

Due to the situation, all schools from class 1 to 12, as well as Anganwadi centres in the Bhilangana area, remain closed until Wednesday.
