Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday advised Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi to reread the Parliamentary Rules of Procedure. This comes after Gandhi made references to individuals who were not members of the Lok Sabha and attempted to display photographs during his Union Budget speech.
'You are Leader of the Opposition. I expect you to first read all the rules of procedure at least one more time,' Birla stated.
Birla reminded Gandhi several times of the rules as he declined to yield to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, who sought to clarify points mentioned in Gandhi's speech. Gandhi retorted that the opposition would yield when the Prime Minister and ministers did so. Rijiju reminded him of previous disruptions during Prime Minister Modi's speeches.
