Barbecue Turns Tragic: Two Dead, Five Injured in Rochester Shooting

In a tragic turn of events, two women lost their lives and five others sustained injuries when gunfire erupted during a Sunday afternoon barbecue at Maplewood Park in Rochester, New York, authorities reported on Monday.
The event, originally a celebration, took a deadly turn around 6:20 pm. According to Police Chief David Smith, multiple weapons were used in the shooting, resulting in the casualties.
Among the deceased were Tyasia Manning, 25, a city employee, and Phylicia Council, 34, who succumbed to her injuries later.
Several law enforcement agencies responded to the scene, including Irondequoit Police, Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Rochester Police, and New York State Police. Although a party was taking place, Capt. Greg Bello noted that the number of shooters remains unclear.
As the investigation continues, authorities have not placed any suspects in custody and are urging anyone with video footage or information to reach out to Major Crimes, Crime Stoppers, or local authorities via 311 or 911.
Rochester is situated approximately 340 miles northwest of Manhattan.
