Tragedy in Hafizganj: 85-Year-Old Woman Dies After Alleged Rape

An 85-year-old woman from Hafizganj died after being allegedly raped by a 35-year-old neighbor, Rakesh. The incident was discovered by the victim's daughter-in-law, who alerted the police. The accused escaped but was later arrested. Authorities are conducting further investigations, including a post-mortem examination.

An 85-year-old woman died after she was allegedly raped in her house in Hafizganj on Monday, police reported.

The authorities have apprehended the 35-year-old suspect, Rakesh, who resides in the neighborhood.

Senior Superintendent of Police Anurag Arya stated that the victim lived alone following the deaths of her husband and son. Her brother, sister-in-law, and daughter-in-law live nearby.

According to the daughter-in-law, she arrived at the victim's house around 1 pm and was shocked to find Rakesh assaulting her mother-in-law, Arya explained.

The daughter-in-law raised an alarm, prompting Rakesh to flee. The family quickly notified law enforcement.

Despite their efforts, the elderly woman succumbed to the injuries from the attack.

The police arrested the accused and noted that he is known to be an alcoholic, currently undergoing interrogation.

A panel has been convened to perform a post-mortem examination on the victim.
