POCSO Court Sentences Man to Death for Heinous Crime in Gujarat

A special POCSO court has handed a death sentence to a 32-year-old man for the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in 2022 in Gujarat's Gir Somnath district.
On Monday, Special Judge S I Bhorania in Kodinar town ruled that the accused, Somabhai Solanki, should be 'hanged by the neck till he is dead' and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000.
Deeming the case 'rarest of the rare,' the court observed the cruelty of the crime left no choice but to impose the death penalty.
