Special Court Acquits 15 in Decade-Old Ajmer Extortion Case

A special court in Ajmer has acquitted all 15 individuals, including 11 Station House Officers (SHOs) and an IPS officer, who were implicated in an alleged extortion racket dating back a decade. The court's decision came as it extended the benefit of doubt to the accused.

In January 2013, the Anti-Corruption Bureau had arrested the then Superintendent of Police, Rajesh Meena, and an alleged middleman, Ramdev Thathera, on charges of extorting money from SHOs under Meena’s jurisdiction.

The ACB also detained the then Additional SP, Lokesh Sonwal, along with inspectors and other SHOs. However, the court ruled that the legal evidence presented was insufficient to prove the allegations.
