Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 Overhaul: Director Steps Down Amid Controversy
The director of the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 has resigned. The project aimed to unify conservative organizations for governmental reforms. Heritage President Kevin Roberts stated the project's goals were achieved. However, former President Trump's criticism led to speculation about the resignation. Trump's campaign has distanced itself from the project.
The director of the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025, which envisions a significant overhaul of the federal government, has resigned, confirmed by a spokesperson for the think tank on Tuesday.
Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts announced that the project achieved its goal of unifying over 110 conservative organizations to create a vision aimed to return power from the administrative state to the people. However, the resignation follows former President Donald Trump's increasing disapproval of Project 2025, fueling speculation that his campaign might have instigated the departure.
Trump campaign advisers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita emphasized that Project 2025 had no connection with Trump's campaign, expressing relief over the project's termination. Despite this, many Trump allies played significant roles in the project, which suggests extensive governmental changes. Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign and top Democrats have linked Trump to Project 2025 as a point of criticism against his potential second term.
