In a landmark move, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has partnered with CivicDataLab (CDL) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on Wednesday. This collaboration is aimed at bolstering data-driven initiatives to combat and adapt to the escalating threats posed by extreme weather conditions such as floods.
The partnership seeks to optimize government resource allocation for disaster risk reduction (DRR), as confirmed by an official release. Chief Secretary Ravi Kota stated that Assam has the potential to become a national role model by embracing such innovative approaches.
Kota underscored the critical role of data-driven decision-making across various state ministries and sectors, particularly in enhancing governance and building climate resilience. Comprehensive climate mitigation requires inclusive collaboration across all government agencies, he stressed.
CDL co-founder and executive director Gaurav Godhwani expressed gratitude to the Assam government and all dignitaries for their support in fostering data-driven solutions for policy reform. He highlighted the unique features of the Intelligent Data Solution for Disaster Risk Reduction and shared CDL’s accomplishments in Assam and across India.
