Mizoram Fast Track Court Sentences Man to 20 Years for Child Rape
A fast track court in Mizoram's Kolasib district has sentenced K. Rothangliana, a 57-year-old man, to 20 years in prison for raping a six-year-old girl. The court imposed an additional fine, with further imprisonment if unpaid. Rothangliana was arrested after the victim reported the crime to her father.

A fast-track court in Mizoram’s Kolasib district sentenced 57-year-old K. Rothangliana to 20 years in prison for the rape of a minor, officials confirmed on Wednesday. Judge R. Vanlalena convicted Rothangliana under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
In addition to the prison term, Rothangliana was fined Rs 7,000. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional three-month prison term. Rothangliana abducted and sexually assaulted a six-year-old girl in May 2022 while she was picking fruits with friends.
The victim reported the incident to her father, which led to an FIR being filed and Rothangliana’s subsequent arrest.
