BSF Woman Constable Repels Border Attack

A BSF woman constable in West Bengal's Nadia district thwarted an attack by Bangladeshi intruders, firing a shot in self-defense as they tried to illegally cross the Indo-Bangla border. Despite her warnings, the intruders, armed with knives and swords, retreated under cover of darkness.

A BSF woman constable was forced to fire in self-defense after being attacked by Bangladeshi intruders at the Indo-Bangla border in West Bengal's Nadia district, according to a BSF statement.

The incident occurred early Wednesday morning when the constable noticed 13 to 14 armed intruders near the border fence in Ranaghat. Despite her verbal warnings, the intruders entered Indian territory, surrounding and attacking her. A fellow jawan attempted to deter the attackers with a stun grenade but failed.

In self-defense and to prevent illegal crossing, the constable fired a round, causing the intruders to retreat back to Bangladesh. The possibility of injuries among the intruders cannot be dismissed, stated the BSF.
