Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the Kerala government on Wednesday for ignoring multiple advance warnings about potential floods and landslides, starting July 23. Nine NDRF teams were dispatched to the state the same day, Shah noted.

During a parliamentary session, Shah emphasized, "Had the Kerala government heeded the warnings or recognized the urgency from NDRF’s deployment, numerous lives could have been saved." He reiterated the Modi administration’s commitment to supporting Kerala, setting aside party politics.

Shah's remarks followed calls from opposition members to improve early warning systems for natural disasters. He asserted that India is among the leading nations in disaster forecasting, stressing the need for local authorities to act promptly. The discussion saw heightened tensions, particularly around remarks about Rahul Gandhi's handling of issues in Wayanad.
