A Minnesota man, Nicolae Miu, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of a high school student and injuring four others during a tubing incident on the Apple River in Wisconsin.
Miu will also serve six years of extended supervision following his release. The court case, concluded in April, found Miu guilty of first-degree reckless homicide, four counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, and one count of battery.
The judge emphasized the severity of Miu's actions, noting that two survivors would have died without immediate help. Miu's attorney requested leniency, acknowledging the victims' and their families' suffering.
