Tehsil Accountant Arrested for Bribe in Gondia

An accountant in Gondia's tehsil office was apprehended for accepting a bribe from a health worker, according to Maharashtra's Anti-Corruption Bureau. Suresh Ramkishore Sharnagat allegedly solicited Rs 3,000 to clear arrearages and was caught accepting Rs 2,500 in a sting operation. He faces charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

An accountant in the tehsil office in Gondia was detained on Thursday for allegedly soliciting and accepting a bribe from a health worker, revealed an official from Maharashtra's Anti-Corruption Bureau.

The accused, Suresh Ramkishore Sharnagat (36), who works contractually at the tehsil health office in Goregaon, reportedly demanded Rs 3,000 to authorize the complainant's incentive arrears of Rs 16,500, according to Inspector Atul Tawade.

'Sharnagat was apprehended while accepting Rs 2,500 in a sting operation conducted by the ACB. He has been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Goregaon police station,' Tawade stated.
