The highly-decomposed body of a man was found on the 11th floor of an under-construction building at Kalyan in Maharashtra's Thane district, officials confirmed on Friday.

The discovery was made around 6 pm on Wednesday, according to an official from the Khadakpada police station. The body has not yet been identified and was sent to a government hospital for post-mortem examination.

Site workers detected a foul smell emanating from a flat on the 11th floor, leading them to find the body in a toilet room. Authorities have registered a case of accidental death, and an investigation is currently underway.
