Pakistani law enforcement agencies have successfully apprehended three terrorists, including a key ISIS commander, in Punjab. This significant arrest follows a series of crackdowns on militant groups in the province. Explosives and weapons were confiscated from the suspects, who are now under further investigation.
Pakistani law enforcement agencies have successfully apprehended three alleged terrorists, including a high-ranking ISIS commander, in the Punjab province, the police announced on Saturday.
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab police confirmed in a statement that the arrests were made during an intelligence-led operation across Faisalabad, Jhelum, and Chakwal cities. Among the suspects is Abdul Wahab, an 'important' ISIS commander. The other two arrested individuals have been identified as Saifullah and Khurram Abbas.
Authorities recovered explosives and weapons from the suspects, who have since been relocated to an undisclosed site for further investigation. Last month, the CTD apprehended 38 suspected terrorists linked to ISIS and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Punjab. In another significant development, the CTD of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police reported the elimination of four terrorists planning a major attack in Mardan district.
