The visit follows the recent assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, a move that has elevated regional tensions.

The assassination of Haniyeh on Wednesday has stirred unrest, particularly following an Israeli strike in Beirut that killed Fuad Shukr, a senior military commander from Hezbollah. Both Hamas and Iran have pointed fingers at Israel for Haniyeh's death, vowing retaliation. Israel has neither confirmed nor denied its involvement.

Safadi's visit signifies continued diplomatic efforts spearheaded by the United States and its allies, including France, Britain, Italy, and Egypt, to curb the rising tensions. Jordan and Iran are also looking to mend ties after recent friction, with Jordan accusing pro-Iranian militias in Syria of narcotics smuggling and intercepting an Iranian attack on Israel last April.
