Parliamentary Panels Formed by Consensus: Key Committees Take Shape

Key parliamentary committees, including the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), have been formed by consensus, avoiding elections seen in previous Lok Sabhas. The composition includes notable members from various parties. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will soon appoint chairpersons, while Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju's team facilitated the consensus-driven appointments.

Key parliamentary committees, such as the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), are being formed by consensus, avoiding the elections seen during the previous Lok Sabha sessions.

Beyond the PAC, panels like the Committee on Public Undertakings and the Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have also been constituted without elections. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is expected to nominate chairpersons soon.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and his team ensured appointments by consensus. Among the PAC members are senior Congress leader K.C. Venugopal, DMK's T.R. Baalu, and BJP's Anurag Thakur. Such efforts have prevented the need for ballots in many cases, streamlining the formation process.
