Chaos erupted in the Rajasthan Assembly on Monday over the appointment of public prosecutors under sections of the Indian Penal Code instead of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Speaker Vasudev Devnani had to adjourn the House twice amid the uproar.
Assembly Chairperson Sandeep Sharma later adjourned the House for the day. Congress MLA Mukesh Bhakar was suspended for the remaining sessions on a proposal moved by Chief Whip Jogeshwar Garg.
After the lunch break, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully demanded a government response on the appointments made under the outdated CrPC provisions. Devnani acknowledged the issue but denied immediate discussion, citing House rules. Heated debates ensued, leading to Bhakar's suspension and the eventual adjournment of the House till Tuesday.
