Tragic Domestic Dispute: Man Allegedly Strangles Wife, Commits Suicide

A tragic domestic dispute took a deadly turn when a 24-year-old man allegedly strangled his teenage wife and later hung himself in Sector 50, police reported on Monday.

Inspector Satyawan, the local SHO, identified the couple as Prajapati Das and 19-year-old Shivali Das. Both were natives of West Bengal, with Prajapati working as a laborer. The heartbreaking incident came to light when Shivali's father, who lives nearby, reported it to the authorities. He alleged that his son-in-law killed his daughter in a fit of domestic rage, just seven months into their marriage.

The senior officer shared that the tragic event occurred around 1:30 pm on Sunday during an intense argument between the couple. Upon returning from work and not finding his daughter at home, Shivali's father discovered the horrifying scene—Prajapati hanging and Shivali lifeless on the floor. Despite rushing them to the hospital, both were declared dead. An FIR under section 103 (1)-murder has been registered, and bodies are stored in the mortuary for post-mortem as investigations continue.
